What is a “Friends” Cooperating Association?

A non-profit group set up to be a Park Partner or “Friend” of Canada’s Parks.

What do “Friends” Cooperating Associations do?

• Share the same mandate as Canada’s Parks – to support the environmental and heritage protection, interpretation and research, now and into the future

• Maintain our own autonomy

• Act as a link between the Park and the local community

• Create links with other like-minded organizations and local businesses

• Provide programming and services often beyond the Park mandate

• Preserve and protect the park

• Work to generate revenue for park support and enhancement

• Provide the park with an important voice of support

• Provide local representation and expertise

• Provide hands-on support and financial assistance

• Further public awareness and understanding of the Park

Friends of Fort Langley Constitution States the Following Goals:

• To provide funds and resources for projects undertaken to enhance Fort Langley National Historic Park

• To promote and organize special events compatible with the Park’s historic environment and the approved themes and objectives for the Park

• To foster the protection and longevity of the historic and aesthetic values of Fort Langley National Historic Park

• To provide and publish materials relevant to Fort Langley National Historic Park

• To enter into agreements with Parks Canada for the operation of sales outlets and to develop high quality, park-specific, theme-related publications and materials for sale at the Park

• To undertake other specific projects or initiatives which may be agreed to by the Co-operators from time to time

• To accept donations, bequests and gifts which will be used to further the objectives of the Association
