Welcome to the Home of the Friends Of Fort Langley

The Friends support the environmental and heritage protection, interpretation and research, now and into the future of Fort Langley National Historic Site in Fort Langley, British Columbia, Canada.

Fort Langley is the location where, more than a century and a half ago, a huge fur trade organization called the Hudson's Bay Company established a small post to trade with the First Nations of the West Coast. The enterprise grew, evolved, influenced history and achieved world fame as the starting point for the Fraser River gold fields.

British Columbia was proclaimed a Crown Colony on this site on November 19, 1858.

The Friends volunteer within or outside of the Fort Langley National Historic Site. We meet and help people from all over the world. We often wear period 1800 style costumes to enable visitors to grasp the important role Fort Langley played in Canada's past and this provides instant opportunities to welcome, educate and entertain – visitors love it!

The Friends provide programming and services, often beyond the Site mandate, and act as a link between the Site and the local community. We also manage and operate the Fort Gift Shop and The Mighty Fraser Bistro.
